Christmas Is Coming Too Soon!

The holiday season has snuck up on me this year.  My daughters and I just got our Christmas decorations up last night.  We didn't get a big tree, but opted for three 2-foot colored sparkly trees.  Luckily, they are still in the easy-to-please phase of life right now.  They would be happy decorating a palm tree and calling it our Christmas tree.  I love them for that.  They've made this year so much easier.

Shopping for presents wasn't great either.  I procrastinated and don't even want to go out there.  I was hoping to get some homemade knitting gift ideas done in the next week.

Is a knit gift pretty lame?  I don't want to be one of those ladies that sends people scratchy scarves and knitted kleenex covers.  As I get older and my loved ones get older, I just have no clue what to buy anymore.  I feel guilty spending so much money on junk someone has to return or doesn't need.  What is the point anymore on spending hundreds of dollars at Christmas?

Here are some ideas I came up with for knit and crocheted gifts:

Headbands!  These are super easy to make with a single chain crochet the whole way.  You just need a little yarn and some ribbon.

Knit necklaces, kind of pretty and unique.

And fingerless gloves.  These come in handy at work when you have to type on the cold keyboard or desktop and you are wearing a short sleeve shirt.  I use some every day.

Last thing I wanted to say.  I decided this year to take my girls to an animal shelter to make a donation and spend some time with all the orphaned animals.  They have such love for living things and I thought they would enjoy making those little guys feel better for a day.  Maybe we'll come home with a little kitten.

I hope we all can reach out this holiday season.  A little goes a long way.

Fancy Friday Blog Hop Week #31

It's the 31st week of the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! Thank you to everyone who comes by and links up. I missed last week, because I've been without a computer.  It's really been a long rough week.  I got a new one, though, and I'm ready to get started again.  I picked three great featured projects for this week.
First, from Yummy Mummy, we have these yummy Cranberry Bites. I love brie and I love cranberries, and never really thought about putting them together.  These are cute!  Her blog is lovely.  I enjoyed the photos, too.  Just wanted to eat the computer screen.

Second, we have some Western-themed Burp Cloths by Little E.  I wish I had babies again, because this cow one is freakin' adorable!  You should check out her site, for great baby things.  She's got it all.

Howdy Partner Burp Cloth Cupcakes

Third, is Getting Rid of Puffy Eyes by Shake Your Beauty.  Lily is a fairly new blogger, but has some great things to say.  She is a personal trainer in her 40's, but she looks in her 30's.  If you are looking for some simple remedies or some advice from an organic beautiful woman, follow her!  She can help you not turn into this.

Next is this adorable Chef and Apron set, by The Little Giggler.  My daughters are in love with this set.  What a simple and great idea!

And last is this amazing DIY Watch from Inspiration & Realisation.  I love stopping by this lady's blog.  Her ability to create is inspirational!

Great Signs

I've been looking at business signs, lately.  Most companies have door signs, building signs, and even stand alone signs.  Branding and logos are an important part of having a business.  At ImpactSigns.com
, you can have custom signs created just for your business.  Here is one with their beautiful work with brass lettering.  I was amazed at all the different types of signs they can create.

Here is a stainless steel plaque on the Morton Salt building in Chicago, IL.  Cute!

How about memorial plaques?  They can handle that, too.  I see these types of signs everywhere:  on libraries, at national parks, on bench in memory of.

I also didn't realize how lucrative this business could be.  Take a look around next time at all the different signs over shops and restaurants.  I can't stop looking and comparing them now.
